Inspired by the glamour of the Italian Riviera and the timeless elegance of the iconic Riva boats, Riva brings a distinctly Italian sensibility to the edge of Rose Bay.

References to classic Riva boats are woven throughout the room rather than applied literally. African mahogany tabletops are detailed with fine rubber inlays, echoing the distinctive striped timber decking of a classic Riva, while stainless steel, tailored upholstery stitching and high-gloss Venetian plaster draw on the precision, craftsmanship and lacquered finishes of the boats themselves.

Elsewhere, the language shifts from the water to the Italian dining room. A Calacatta stone bar, plaster shell embellishments, original mouldings with mirrored infills and classic Riviera wicker chairs bring a sense of old-world charm without feeling nostalgic. Muted linen curtains soften the room and frame the harbour beyond, while hand-cut honeycomb zellige tiles, baby blue linen tablecloths and warm lighting give the space its more relaxed, lived-in character.

The result is polished but not precious - a dining room designed for long lunches, generous dinners and afternoons that roll into the evening. Riva captures the glamour of the Italian Riviera without trying to recreate it, with the romance and craftsmanship of a classic Riva boat running quietly through its DNA.
